Another Hall of Monument + GW2 related question
I know you guys will probably be soon annoyed with us noobs talking about this but.. here goes..
I have yet to buy the game, but have played the trial and have vast experience playing other MMORPGs so this would be nothing shockingly new to me. My question is, are there HoM rewards that would transition to GW2 that are no longer attainable/impossible for new players? Things such as being rewarded for being a member for many years or participating in 4 halloween/christmas events or something that would require a time machine to accomplish. I don't want to sound like I'd only buy the GW games just to get rewards for GW2, because I would like to get some of the backstory before GW2 releases. I just don't want to drop the $30 for the first 3 campaigns + another $30 for EotN to find out that most of the rewards are unattainable. Secondary question: is anybody able to load up the reward calculator and show exactly what those rewards are for GW2? And how long would it take to fill up the HoM with rewards that would transition to GW2? http://hom.guildwars2.com/index.html#page=welcome |

Virtually all of the accomplishments that can be put in the HoM are available to any character or player starting any time, so there will be nearly nothing you are not eligible to get. The ONLY exception is the Commander title, but since that is mutually exclusive with another current title (Codex), it is irrelevant, because only one of them can be added. So you are not missing any opportunities or rewards at all by starting now.
For the secondary question: yes, anyone can load up the reward calendar, but I'm not sure if you can see anything without putting in a character name. However, you can just put in a random name that you know exists (if you want, you can put in mine: Ailina Havalii) and it will show you all the accomplishments that are available and what they are each worth. If you buy it, then put in one of your characters' names, and you will see exactly what you need to accomplish for certain rewards. Whether or not the rewards are "worth it" is entirely subjective. I personally love the rewards that are available, and I'm glad that I put in the time to get them. Also, I do not farm for titles, so many of the points can be accomplished through playing through the game and getting various in-game achievements (such as completing the Fissure of Woe, etc). Hope this answers your questions. Good luck! |

Quite an impressive resume you have there, although I don't know TOO much about the game yet hehe.
I'm having trouble understanding what the 38/50 is referencing. I mean obviously it's the rewards you will see in GW2, but does it explain what you need to unlock each level (what you'd need to do exactly to get to 39/50.. 40/50 etc)? Or is it just accumulative of all the 5 categories? IE: 8/8 devotion and 3/8 fellowship 10/18 honor, would put you at 21/50? then if you had 8/8 devotion 8/8 fellowship 5/18 honor it would technically be the same and 21/50? Are you able to see the GW2 rewards of the ranks you haven't yet unlocked? Is there a complete list of each of the 50 reward levels? Lots of questions lol. |

mouse over the icons at the top and it will show you what the rewards are. mostly cosmetic / skins and titles etc. , so with or without them in GW2 you won't be at a disadvantage.
But yes you can achieve them even if you start today, old timers from GW will just have wrinkles and grey beards in GW2. |

There are a max of 30 reward ITEMS which would be 30/50. The other 20 points give you a different selectable title every five points.
How it works is you get an item for every point, every five points you get two items and a title. After 30 points you only get the titles. If you get the God Walking Amongst Mere Mortals (GWAMM) Guild Wars 1 title, that is separate from the HoM and gives you the same selectable title in GW2. By the way that title is from achieving the max rank in 30 titles.

from what i've hunderstood from using the aplication, one acount can get up to 50 total points that corresponds to the all the rewards unlocked. it seems that the rewards are unlocked from 5 to 5 points. rewards go from ingame armors, weapons to rangers special types of pets and miniature pets.
the hall of monuments has 5 diferent monuments where you can get points from doing certain stuff example: in the armor monument you get 1 point if you have one armor there, +1 points if you have 3 diferent armors( 1 norn, 1 azura, 1 vanguard counts but if you have 1 norn war, 1 norn sin, 1 norn rit you dont get that extra point) +2 points if you have 5 diferent kinds of armor +1 point for 7 armors +1 point for Kurzick/luxon from factions (Factions) +1 point for Vabbian armor(Nightfall) +1 point for obsidian armor( from Undeword and Fissure of Woe) i need 1 vabbian and 1 obsidian to get all the 8 points i can get from the armors monument all the other monuments have the same kind of mecanics you can check the what gives you points and what you are missing all the unlocks are still doable, the only one that i think that can be a bit overkill to achieve is the minipets monument since it requires 50 total minipets |

Thank you very much for clearing that up, I didn't understand why the rewards trailed off after 30/50. I understand now, and I think I'm convinced enough to purchase the game! |

The only issue you might have is obtaining enough to get the 50/50 (unless your quick or play alot) may take longer then you have between now and gw2 gets released. On the otherhand, pessimists like myself would say you probably have over a year to get em done.

Cheating for HoM items
OK so I did the math and realized that a person could simply buy enough ectos or z keys or whatever from some cheating gold selling company and get 30 points without 1 single title or any real work at all. So my question is this, what about people that suddenly get every thing they need in a couple days of cheating, any plans on bringing the pain to these cheaters? Even people with old accounts that BAM have it all? And if u want to check my account out go ahead Iv been playing GW sense day two 94.1% prophecy explored and no map hacks or cheating ever. 23 HoM points all legit and Ill hit 30 legit.
P.S. I hate cheaters |
